Boating
- Sanibel and Captiva are surrounded by convenient waters: San Carlos
Bay, Pine Island Sound, and the Gulf of Mexico. The Inland Waterway
feeds into San Carlos Bay where it picks up the Intracoastal Waterway.
Biking - There are 25 miles of scenic, safe cycling on the bike paths.
Golf - Both open to the public, The Dunes and Beachview Golf Clubs
offer 18-hole courses, club houses, lounges, dining rooms, and pro
shops. The Sanctuary is a private 18-hole championship course, which
is still under development on the west end of Sanibel. South Seas
Plantation, on Captiva, has a nine-hole executive course for their
guests. |
Tennis
& Racquetball - Public tennis courts are available at the Sanibel
Elementary School on Sanibel-Captiva Road. Most of the condominiums
and all of the resorts maintain tennis facilities for their guests.
The Signal Inn has racquetball courts that are open to the public.
Sanibel/Captiva Recreation Complex - The Olympic size swimming pool
is part of the 12,000 square foot Sanibel Recreation Complex, which
includes a multi-purpose gymnasium, two baseball fields, lighted tennis
courts, and a children's playground. |
